From Early Digital Printing Imports to Pan-India Distribution: How Manish Aggarwal Built Mono Sign Systems Over Three Decades

New Delhi: When digital printing was still finding its place in the Indian market, Manish Aggarwal saw an opportunity in a technology that would eventually change the way businesses approached signage, graphics and commercial printing. In 1993, he founded Mono Sign Systems, beginning a journey that has now stretched across more than three decades.

What started as a Delhi-based operation has gradually developed into a wide-format printing equipment and consumables business with a presence across several major markets in India. The company was among the early importers of digital printers into the country, entering a segment that would grow significantly as digital printing became more accessible to sign-making businesses, textile printers and other commercial users.

Over the years, Mono Sign Systems expanded beyond equipment distribution. The company built its business around a wider range of printing technologies and consumables, while developing a dealer network that now extends across India.

A significant part of this growth has been the distribution of the AT Inks range. According to the company, its current supply capacity for the range has reached approximately 500 tons/litres per month, reflecting the scale of its distribution operations and the demand it serves across the printing industry.

The growth has also been visible in the company’s physical presence. Mono Sign Systems now operates across locations including Delhi, Siraspur, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Surat, supported by a wider network of dealers and distributors.

For Manish, the expansion has been closely linked to understanding what printing businesses need as technology changes.

Keeping Pace With a Changing Printing Industry

The wide-format printing industry has become increasingly specialised, with businesses working across applications ranging from signage and textile printing to promotional graphics and customised products. This has created demand for different combinations of equipment, inks and finishing solutions rather than a single type of printer.

Mono Sign Systems has built its portfolio accordingly, covering technologies such as DTF, eco-solvent, UV, sublimation and solvent printing, along with lamination equipment and other consumables used in commercial printing operations.

Another part of the company’s offering is its in-house manufacturing capability. This allows Mono Sign Systems to customise certain products based on specific customer requirements, including specialised inks, bottles and labels.

For B2B customers, that flexibility can be important, particularly when printing businesses have different production requirements or are working with specialised applications.

Service has remained another focus for the company. With equipment and consumables forming an important part of a printer’s daily operations, businesses often require not only access to products but also consistent supply and support. Mono Sign Systems has built its operations around serving these requirements through its multi-city presence and dealer network.

The company’s customer base includes sign-making businesses, textile printers, dealers, distributors and other B2B buyers operating within the wide-format printing ecosystem.

After more than 30 years in the industry, Mono Sign Systems is therefore in a different position from where it began. The market has changed, printing technologies have evolved and the range of products available to customers has expanded considerably. Yet the company has continued to build around the same basic requirement: giving businesses access to printing equipment, inks and related solutions through a dependable distribution network.

For Manish, the journey represents more than the growth of one company. It reflects the evolution of India’s digital printing industry itself, from the early adoption of imported digital printers to today’s more diverse and technology-driven printing ecosystem.

With its growing AT Inks distribution capacity, multi-city operations, pan-India dealer network and broad product portfolio, Mono Sign Systems is continuing to build on the foundation established in 1993.

More than three decades after it began, the company remains focused on the same market it entered at a much smaller scale – while operating with considerably larger reach and a far broader understanding of what modern printing businesses require.
