Shri. Vijay Sardesai – A Political Voice for Progressive Education
At the forefront of the list was MLA and founder of the Goa Forward Party, Shri. Vijay Sardesai. Having been the current representative of the Fatorda constituency, his powerful voice for youth development and education was deeply felt. Sardesai spoke of the power of design and creative industries to redefine the economic and cultural profile of Goa. His advocacy for education transformation and skills development aligns with the institute’s vision of creating industry-ready graduates.
Mr. Subodh Kerkar – Art as Activism and Identity
Award-winning artist Subodh Kerkar added the evening’s cultural heft. His love for art as a tool to rescue and preserve Goan identity resonated with students. Kerkar’s appeal to use design as a tool to raise the voice of social and environmental issues lent the event an introspective tone, one that reminded one that creativity is society’s interest.
Mr. Praful Makwana – A Fashion Entrepreneur Who Interweaves Commerce and Culture
Fashion entrepreneur and social media influencer Praful Makwana shared where fashion, entrepreneurship, and online influence were converging. His experience shared how Goa could be transformed into a creative capital, whereby fashion is both an economic generator and a cultural ambassador. He encouraged students to adopt personal branding and values-based business models.
Dr. Niyan Marchon – Visionary Scholar and Thought Leader
With a clear understanding of the redemptive nature of higher education, Dr. Niyan Marchon, Program Director at the Goa State Higher Education Council, highlighted the critical role of research-oriented and inclusive systems of higher education. His advocacy for co-learning and inter-disciplinary studies found its reflection in the JD School of Design’s pedagogy process.
Mr. Yogesh Dalal – Patron of Innovative Education
Lastly, JD Educational Trust Trustee Mr. Yogesh Dalal reiterated the vision of the institution to create a robust design ecosystem in Goa and in the country. His vision to empower talent with world-class infrastructure and curriculum was reflected in every showcase throughout the evening.
